Nonprofit Spotlight - Quincy Communities That Care

A big role of a community foundation is to bring awareness to their community partners, in an effort to help lift up organizations that are having a positive effect on the surrounding area. Columbia Basin Foundation has been honored to work with and get to know many of these organizations. We are delighted to bring you round 2 of the Nonprofit Spotlight to shine the light on the good these groups are doing.

CBF Takes Part in Giving Tuesday 2016

Giving Tuesday is an international day of generosity that empowers people to give to the causes that they are passionate about. Here at Columbia Basin Foundation we are in a unique position where we are usually supporting the philanthropic efforts of others, with little opportunity to fund our own projects for the communities we serve. So this year, for Giving Tuesday, we are launching the Columbia Basin Foundation Special Projects Fund and we need your help. Today, November 29th, 2016, is the official kickoff to this fund and we have a special project in mind to get things started.

The Science of Gratitude & How to Achieve Greater Happiness

This time of year as we are all gathering with our friends and families, it is also a great time to reflect on all the things we are grateful for. Through expressing our gratitude we are reminded of all the blessings we have and can gain new perspective in this reflection. But did you know that there is actually scientific research to support why those feelings of gratitude actually make us feel better, too? Positive psychology researchers have found that gratitude has a strong and consistent association with greater happiness and allows people to experience more positive emotions, relish good experiences, experience greater health, handle adversity, and build stronger relationships.
